Thank you to those who actually take a few moments to read this lol, you don't really have to pay attention to it, I just wanted to say something.
And this totally isn't towards any one specific person or people.
Those of us that have been here a long time, know well enough about the tumblr blog, fuckyeahterribleatoc's.
Some of you tend to blow it out of proportion what that blog is about and what it does when ever it comes up.
People don't put oc's up there because the art is good or they're jealous of the oc or they're stifling your so called creativity And trust me that word gets thrown around much too easily around here.
I have never really agreed with putting up bad oc's of others for all to see and to make fun of fun of them instead of offering some helpful criticism. Though admittedly some do leave some helpful comments from what I've seen when they submit them.
But you have to admit, most of the oc's that show on there are bad. There was the time or two that a good one did wined up in the bad end of the bin, but that was only because of some people's poor lack of research on the character.
But honestly, think about this, if your oc does wined up on that blog, even if you don't care that it did, you play it off as nothing.
That's good, you aren't taking it too bad, your aren't getting upset, etc, but if your oc does make it there, take a step back and look at them.
Are they really as perfect as you think?
Are they even fit for this fandom?
Because I wont lie, and plenty of us know, how unfit some oc's have been and are.
People making oc's based off of emo, scene kids, prostitutes, slutty succubi, making them basically based around sex or 'tier 15'. Terribly over powered, canon look alikes or making already canon existing royals. Always making things about their breasts, their rear ends, that has nothing to do with adventure time.
Sure it has it's innuendos, it's not so child like moments, Adventure time gets intense, and deep, violent, but it isn't blatantly about sex, or people dressing like anime characters and neko's and wearing little to nothing at all because they're apparently so comfortable with their bodies. Honestly I feel like some people just use that as an excuse to make them dress as skimpy as possible. And I have nothing against a character with large breasts, but if you make it about that all the time, that character just becomes obnoxious, bland and degrading. Then not to mention the other oc's that go along with it and sort of objectify those even worse, touching, looking at them inappropriately, asking for sex like it's nothing. And don't get me started on oc's who do that, or the one's that cuss like we do instead of at least trying to be in character and make up their own words or use the one's that exist.
On the bright side, the blog has a time where it gets good submissions and shows them on Saturday to be praised. So technically it isn't all bad.
All I'm saying is, if your oc happens to make it to the bad side of that blog, just take a moment to think about your character, because if someone has an issue with them, who's to say plenty others don't if the submissions are being liked on tumblr? They're just afraid to say anything out in the open. And just because your oc hasn't been on it yet, doesn't mean they're perfect either.
Just really think about what you're making when you make it for a fandom basically.
That's all I wanted to say on that matter, I don't voice my opinion too much on here because of this hierarchy I and others have been placed in for as long as we've been here and when ever we say something, it seems to lead into this series of people following with similar journals and then others make fun and it just, makes me very wary to do so. I only felt like writing this because it seems there's been a more abundant reaction lately to that blog again, and some of the comments in regards to it, I felt something needed to be said.
